Starting elementary school is a big moment in your child’s life. At N Family School, we’re here to support both you and your child, helping you feel confident, prepared, and excited for what comes next.
Our mission is to equip children with the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through inspiring learning environments and our distinctive educational approach, our Educators partner with families to support school readiness at every stage.
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” — Malcolm X
Our Pre-K program sees children continue to build upon our seven core curriculum areas, while participating in our specialized N School Ready Skills program. We ensure every child transitions to Kindergarten fully equipped with confidence, compassion, and strong critical thinking skills.

Our Mathematics, Expressive Arts & Design, and Understanding the World curriculum foster critical thinking and cognitive development. Through interactive activities, project-based learning and real-world experiments, children engage with STEAM concepts through playful discovery.

Our focus on phonics supports early literacy by teaching children how to decode words, recognize letters, understand sounds, and write simple sentences. This strong foundation nurtures language development, expands vocabulary, and supports growing comprehension skills.

Through a thoughtfully selected collection of age-appropriate books, children explore a wide range of stories, develop strong early reading skills, and build a genuine love for reading. To connect learning at Pre-K with home, Educators use an N Reading Log to share book selections, important updates, and personalized progress notes with families.
Our Pre-K curriculum is complemented by N School Ready Skills, a year-long program in your child’s final year with us. This program focuses on five essential areas that support academic readiness.

We understand that starting school is about much more than academics. Your child’s emotional well-being and resilience are at the heart of everything we do. In their final year with us, we dedicate time to exploring emotions and supporting children as they navigate the transition from Pre-K to school alongside their peers.
At the same time, we help children build independence skills that are essential for school life. This includes adjusting to larger group settings and developing confidence in everyday routines, similar to what they will experience in kindergarten or early elementary classrooms.
“Children thrive best when their school and family work together in partnership.”

Children will transition to our Pre-K room during the final school year before they are old enough to enroll in Kindergarten.
You’ll receive a Transition Booklet filled with helpful information, including details about your child’s new Primary Educator, classroom Educators, and photos of the new environment. This includes where their peg and cubby will be, where restrooms are located, and what exciting areas they’ll be able to explore.
In their Pre-K room, your child will continue with the N Curriculum while also being introduced to our N School Ready Skills. Learning experiences are thoughtfully balanced between structured activities and gentle free play, both indoors and outdoors.
A dedicated schedule of physical education lessons supports a love of physical activity, while our N Enrichments - weekly small group activities, including cooking and baking, Spanish, yoga, and Doodle Dance - enrich daily learning and discovery.
Families can support school readiness in many simple, meaningful ways. These include encouraging independence through daily routines like getting dressed, using the restroom independently, and eating breakfast at a consistent time. Listening to your child read and supporting them with their weekly book also makes a big difference.
You’ll find a wide range of helpful resources on The Family Hub to support your child’s learning at home.
Learning goes beyond academics, and we bring the community into the classroom to help prepare your child for school! Our guest visitors - including dentists, firefighters, librarians, and even local musicians - provide enriching real-world experiences that nurture your child’s physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.
All experiences are recorded in your child’s very own ‘N Passport’ - a booklet shared with you as a meaningful record of their growing cultural experiences.
