We focus on supporting children to form secure, emotional attachments with familiar adults.
Children explore a range of emotions through facial expressions and body language, while developing the ability to self-soothe.
We also start to explore independence, encouraging self-feeding with finger foods, and drinking from an open-top cup.
Physical Development
In their first year with us, children will master rolling, crawling, pulling themselves to standing and starting to take early steps with increasing independence.
We’ll introduce our yoga program, starting with simple stretching exercises and trying some basic poses!
Communication & Language
We focus on the fundamental ‘serve-and-return’ of communication, encouraging children to babble and imitate sounds heard in storytime, singing and play!
Children are introduced to basic American Sign Language, helping them to express early needs.
Expressive Arts & Design
Children enjoy exploring different materials, and watching how they change in artistic and sensory play.
We explore mark-making using various tools through our Doodle Dance program!
Mathematics
Children understand the concept of 1, 2, 3 through number based games, songs and rhymes.
We explore the theory of cause-and-effect, through age-appropriate mechanical and technological resources.
Literacy
Children quickly show an active and developing interest in picture books as they explore our N Library.
We encourage handling books with intent, celebrating attempts to turn pages and hold a book upright!
Understanding the world
We start to explore the natural world, through objects, sights, smells, sounds and experiencing different weather and seasons.
Children begin our Spanish program, enjoying weekly singing sessions!
We’ll also explore a variety of textures, tastes and different foods through our weekly cooking sessions.
We build an early vocabulary of three or more words, and the ability to follow simple instructions.
