During this stage of high energy and fast-growing language skills, our program is designed to channel curiosity into meaningful learning experiences.
Our N Curriculum for Twos includes:
Emotional literacy and mindfulness
Our focus with children aged 2-3 is on supporting them to express their feelings in a variety of ways, including through the use of tools such as the N Mood Meter, which helps children begin identifying and naming emotions.
Your child will start recognizing feelings in other people, observing their body language, and may begin to show early signs of empathy - for example, trying to help a friend if they appear to be sad.
Regular mindfulness sessions will follow a familiar pattern, and your child will be aware of ways they can help their mind and body relax, such as breathing exercises. They will also delve deeper into how we can care for and respect each other, and begin to explore how their actions can affect others.
Physical health and activity
Your child will become increasingly independent, choosing appropriate outdoor clothing based on the weather and the type of activity.
During mealtimes and cooking sessions, we begin to focus on understanding healthy foods and the importance of eating some foods in moderation.
Our Physical Activity curriculum will help to build awareness of the benefits and importance of being active.
Your child may begin to show greater independence with toileting, with support tailored to each child’s individual development. Many children may transition out of diapers during this stage.
During daily physical activity, your child will begin to enjoy running, racing, and chasing games.
We focus on developing fine motor skills such as pouring from a jug and using small tools, including writing tools. We will support your child in exploring early pencil and tool use through playful, hands-on experiences that strengthen fine motor control.
In Doodle Dance, we will focus on forming counterclockwise circles and straight lines, building early movement patterns that support later mark-making.
Yoga
Yoga sessions will increase in length as the children are able to focus and hold a wider range of positions.
Breathing exercises will be taught to help calm busy minds and bodies.
